Do RS Friends Matter?
Many years ago, when I first started my RuneScape adventure, I spent many days wandering the world of Gielinor, talking to and interacting with other players.
Over many, many years, I had built up a solid group of friends and acquaintances – people that I looked forward to seeing, talking to, and interacting with daily.
These people made my RuneScape journey one of the most memorable parts of my childhood – we laughed together, shared stories, played games, and sadly, some probably knew more about my personal life and challenges than friends in real life did.
They meant equally as much to me as friends I had met in real-life, and I always felt close to them, even though geographically, we were often worlds apart.
As time went by however, that list of friends slowly dwindled, until one day, I logged on and realised that 99% of the people that I had once spent every day with, were no longer a part of my life.
Some had moved on from RuneScape, others cut off contact, and others still I lost due to petty squabbles or indifferences.
At times, I find myself wondering how these people are doing – have they finished school? Do they have a job? Do they perhaps have their own family? And most commonly – do they still think of me, as I think of them?
People say good friendships last a lifetime, yet these people who were always ‘good friends’ to me, somehow disappeared from my life so suddenly.
It makes me think whether the people I interact with now, and look forward to seeing every day might also one day just walk out of my life, or whether five or ten years down the road, they’ll even still remember my name..
So I was wondering what you guys think – do you also have friends you’ve lost, for whatever reason, that you still care about?
Do you think RuneScape friendships are transient – perhaps even that they don’t matter? Or perhaps you have a story of a RuneScape friendship that converted into a ‘happily ever after’?

If you log out within these safe areas, you are moved outside, as each world will be controlled by different clans and will change as the king/boss dies again, so don't be inside when another clan gains access to it.
