Combat Level Formula Issue from Runescape 2

Problem:

Combat Level formula creates a very unbalanced combat triangle, with melee being very over powered.

Example:

Assuming a player only focuses on training one side of the combat triangle and has level 1 Defence, Attack, Summoning and Prayer with:

- 99 Strength and 99 Constitution will have a Combat Level of 57

- 99 Range and 10 Constitution will have a Combat Level of 67

- 99 Magic and 10 Constitution will have a Combat Level of 67

Solution:

Bring back Combat formula from Runescape 2 (a.k.a. Old School RS). Damage for each combat style is fine and does not need to be modified, as it is only the formula to calculate

Combat Level that creates an unbalanced combat triangle.

I understand your confusion about 10 hp, my point was just to show a pure strength with 99 str/hp is 10 combat levels lower than a pure ranger with 99 range and only 10 hp .. it's quite an unbalanced formula.

Look at it this way instead, with the same assumptions posted above, a player with 99 range/hp or 99 mage/hp would have a combat level of 84 .. almost 30 levels higher than a pure strength with 99 str/hp. So in low threat area's, pure strengths have an extremely unfair advantage against pure rangers/mages instead of only having a fair advantage against normal players that chose to train all combat stats instead of making an account designed for PvP. A lvl 40 pure str is much stronger than a lvl 40 pure ranger.

As for your comment about the rangers/mages having access to better weapons makes no difference. A player with 99 Strength and 1 Attack using an obby maul can still hit much higher than a player with 99 range using the highest level range weapons/ammo.

As for pure's getting popped outside the low threat zone by level 138's is somewhat true, however, a level 57 pure strength with 99 str/hp actually has a pretty good chance at beating a level 138. Likewise, a level 84 pure ranger with 99 range/hp would also have a pretty good chance to defeat a level 138.

Back in 2007 (when you actually needed max combat stats to reach max cb level) I nearly killed a level 118 who was using a godsword and protect against range when I was only level 57 combat with 85-90 range using an MSB and rune arrows, and only level 1 prayer (so no protection prayers). I was able to put up a good fight because my stats were high enough to do good damage against players with 99 def and good armor. Then there was another time when I got jumped by a level 94 and 97 in deep wildy when I was only at 64 combat .. I killed both of them with ease; since by that time I had 99 range, 90+ hp, and 85+ mage. Combat level does not dictate who will win a fight, combat skill levels do.
